Frequently Asked Questions
Why should we use DANEnet?
DANEnet is a nonprofit organization. We understand nonprofits and we have the best interest of nonprofit organizations in our mission and our practice. Our expert staff are committed to providing affordable services and appropriate technology. We don’t always promote the latest and the greatest, but rather we work with clients to find the best solutions for now and the future.
Technology planning, up-to-date computer hardware, affordable Internet access, knowledge of software applications, a useful website and social media savvy are all essential for nonprofit organizations, but are often left out of the budget and under-resourced. When nonprofits take full advantage of the capacity of technology, they can focus more energy on their mission and raising funds to support their organization.
Too often nonprofits end up paying for high-priced services from companies that don’t share their mission and don’t know about special technology deals and offers for nonprofits. DANEnet has the knowledge, the expertise and the connections to help organizations do their good work.
How does technology support work?
DANEnet provides both scheduled, managed technology support and also on-demand technology support to nonprofits in Dane County. Nonprofits can either schedule regular technology support or call on DANEnet staff as needed. Even if your agency has not worked with us in the past, you are only one call away from getting a DANEnet technician to help make technology work for your organization.
How much does it cost?
DANEnet bills per hour of technology consultant’s time plus 1/2 of their travel time to and from the site. Our current rate structure includes; pay as you go at$64 per hour or purchase prepaid service contract at $60 per hour. Discounts are available for clients that use more than 175 hours per year.
How fast can you help?
DANEnet technical support is designed to help with routine, non-emergency technology tasks, problems and long term planning. Technology consultants work Monday – Friday between 8 am and 6 pm. All clients can expect a phone response to a request for service within 24 hours and most appointments are scheduled within one or two days. Most often you can expect same-day response.
I am not really sure, can I learn a little more?
Yes. If you are new to DANEnet you can schedule a free one hour consultation. You can learn more about our organization and we can find out about your technology needs. Click the button at the bottom of the page to schedule a consult.
We are not a nonprofit, can you help us?
This sounds fabulous, how do we start?
If you are new to DANEnet you can call the main office at (608) 274-3107 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will find the technology consultant that best fits your organization. You can also directly contact a consultant from our staff page.
Is there anything DANEnet staff can't do?
We won’t feed your cat.
DANEnet staff can build a website, align a facebook and twitter account and help make sure the technology works. We do not write content and we can not get people to like or follow you. Likewise, DANEnet can develop a great file system, back-up plan and virus prevention, but the organization must use it for it to work.
We do not do technology support during non-business hours.
